Marius Frøisland

I'm a student of Urasenkes tradition of Japanese Tea. I teach once a week in my home, and do occasional public presentations. I'm passionate about sharing Chanoyu with others, and have many projects to provide information about the Way of Tea in English.

First Introduction

Sapporo

I lived in Sapporo for four months at the end of 2003 and beginning of 2004. During the stay I attended okeiko four times a week. Twice a week with Inomata-sensei and twice at the local school club. The constituted a very intensive learning experience for me.

During 2006 and 2007 I was teaching as part of Urasenke Norways activity. I was the teacher for 87 okeiko during the two years. 20 different students attended, and did a total of 236 temae.

Shikaden

After returning from Kyoto in 2005 a began taking lessons with Kimura-sensei from London in the periode 2005-2007. He visited Norway several times, and I visited the London branch a few times for lessons. I was awarded the Shikaden Kyojo by Kimura-sensei

I built a Tea space in my basement to further my practice of Chanoyu. It is a 4.5 tatami, with a smal tokonoma. It has an adjacent mizuya of 2 mat. I build the room my self with help from friends and family.
